Picking the right text tool
Most text jobs fall into three groups: measuring, cleaning and reshaping.
Measuring
The word counter is the one to use for essays and limits such as a 300-word abstract or a 2,200-character Instagram caption. The character counter is for hard caps like SMS segments (160 GSM-7 characters) or meta descriptions. Readability score estimates the reading grade of a draft, and word frequency shows which words you lean on too often.
Cleaning
Text pasted from PDFs and emails usually brings hard line breaks, doubled spaces and duplicate rows with it. Remove line breaks rejoins the wrapped paragraphs. Text cleaner strips extra whitespace and stray characters. Remove duplicate lines de-dupes lists of emails or keywords before you import them anywhere.
Reshaping
The case converter switches between Title Case, sentence case and the camelCase/snake_case styles used in code. Find and replace supports regular expressions for bulk edits. Sort lines and add prefix/suffix turn a plain list into SQL values, CSV rows or HTML list items in a couple of steps.
Fancy and upside-down text swap in Unicode look-alike characters, and glitch text stacks combining marks on top of each letter. Both paste anywhere Unicode is supported, but screen readers may read them out letter by letter, so keep them out of anything that needs to be accessible.
